For me behaving properly towards the others is a matter of respect. And being respectful is the minimum effort I give and expect from people surrounding me. No matter if those are my friends, family members or strangers I happen to share the same bus with.
The world is changing and so is the behavior of humans. From what I see every day, rudeness is taking over the politeness. But why? More and more people are egoistic, many of which are raised in such attitude. Helping an older person, giving a seat to a pregnant woman in a tram, a man letting a woman pass first - such behaviors are seen very rarely. Instead there are men spitting on the streets, teenagers screaming vulgarisms, young women with no self respect and people who don't even care to close their mouth while they're eating. And most of the thank yous or you're welcomes sound dishonest. Well then, what’s the point of even saying it?
Due to the crudity growth all of the true ladies and gentlemen are dying out. Is it even possible to be a 100% lady in today's world? Let's take a look at a simple example of a business meeting, where woman is surrounded by screaming over each other men. She has to forget about her good manners, which she was taught at home and has to start interrupting the conversation by yelling just like the others if she wants to be heard. This shows, that if we want to be treated equally, sometimes we have to behave like men. So the question is - how to be a well-behaved person in a rapidly changing world, which is full of aggression, egoism and unfairness? I think if the situation requires it, we have to stand up for ourselves, but nevertheless we should never forget about good manners, especially towards people who deserve it. Because if you don't know how to behave, you simply embarrass yourself.
